Photo of the week: Autumn Spirits

I didn`t need much convincing to go out yesterday, with a gorgeous blue sky and the best of the region`s autumn colours showing. Ametsuboyama, a hill by my house, is dotted with Buddhist temples and gravestones, red Shinto torii gates, and even a Christian cemetery – all hidden within a deep growth of forest.

I discovered the Buddhist temple, 長久寺 (choukyuu dera) on my walk, and lay down on the stone stairs in order to take this shot. I hope it brings some colour to your autumn days (the weather here today has turned grey again ><)

A hillside Buddhist temple and cemetery in Japan, lit up with fiery colours on a beautiful, clear autumn day.
