During the annual Kyotographie International Photography Festival, held in Kyoto earlier this year, visitors were treated to high-res, NASA captured images of the surface Mars. Curated by Xavier Barral, and put to a haunting soundtrack of incessant, untiring wind, edited to a Martian timbre, the images challenge the viewer, as they try to peg it to something within their experience, which, when looking at an alien world, doesn’t yet exist.
